"Do not repay anyone evil
for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If
it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with
everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's
wrath, for it is written: "it is mine to avenge; I will repay,"(1) says
the Lord. On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he
is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap
burning coals on his head."(2) Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12: 17 - 21 (1) Deuteronomy 32: 35 (2) Proverbs 25: 21 - 22
"I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is over self." Aristotle
Both the Apostle Paul and the Greek philosopher Aristotle agree on an essential point in human behavior as far as "GETTING EVEN" a/k/a Revenge and Retaliation > DON'T! We all have the desire in our mind to > Settle The Score < when we feel taken advantage of. It Hurts!
We immediately want to defend yourself depending on the
offense physically, emotionally and/or spiritually. I've learned this
lesson in the past, by mistakenly Reacting instead of Acting toward a blatantly unfair situation which had repercussions initially on my career path in Banking. Fortunately for me, I finally realized by taking the 'High Road' I actually had control of the situation.
I later learned through Personal Development Training the following
which I constantly share with those going through challenges:
"The Person Who Cares The Least Has The Power And Is In Control!
A significant amount of my time is spent
with individuals who are still struggling with a situation from their
past. Many are emotionally imprisoned, tormented internally and
attempting to break free of a self imposed bondage called "GETTING EVEN" instead of surrendering this to the Lord. The word surrender can have some connotations of weakness, but not in cases where the previous injury is keeping you bound.
By raising your White Flag illustrating how we have been washed in
the Blood of the Lamb by surrendering ourselves to Christ is a
victorious empowerment as opposed to a defeat. Turning those hurts, resentments and bondage previously still keeping us prisoner begin to loosen as we breakthrough and escape. There's freedom like we've never experienced and saying once and for all we are a new creation in Christ.
Feel the Power! Embrace the Freedom! Raise the White Flag! Lift It Higher!
