Fed’s Report to Congress Scheduled for Early March - Real Time Economics - WSJ #tcot

By Sudeep Reddy

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is scheduled to present his Semiannual Monetary Policy Report to Congress on March 2 before the Senate Banking Committee and March 3 before the House Financial Services Committee.

The House panel late Tuesday released its tentative schedule for next month. It’ll start with a look at monetary policy and jobs on Feb. 9 in the Domestic Monetary Policy & Technology subcommittee. That will give Congress’s leading Fed critic, Rep. Ron Paul (R., Texas), a chance to take on the central bank as chairman of the subcommittee. (He’ll probably also have a few words about the Fed on Wednesday, Jan. 26, at a full committee hearing on the economy that includes former Fed vice chairman Donald Kohn as a panelist.)

Then the committee moves on to its review of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (also on Feb. 9), derivatives provisions of the Dodd-Frank Act (Feb 15) and the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission report (Feb. 16).

(This post has been updated to reflect the hearing order between the Senate and House.)
